Attitudes of the Czech Public to an Amendment to the Education Act, Currently Proposed Measures and Inclusive Education – August/September 2023\n

As part of a periodical survey conducted by the CVVM from August to September 2023, selected citizens over the age of 15 were surveyed about their opinions regarding the inclusive education. Specifically, we examined views of the Czech public on whether children with physical, sensory or mental disabilities, children of foreign nationality, Roma children, children from poor or vice versa wealthy families and gifted children should be educated in mainstream classes. We also examined attitudes to measures implemented by an amendment to the Education Act and to currently proposed measures.\n\nCzech citizens most often support measures regarding the preschool education. On the other hand, the least popular measure is a proposal to extend compulsory education to 10 years which is supported by less than a third (33 %).
Academic self-concept of gifted children in special and regular classes

The bachelor thesis aims to map self-concept of gifted children. The theoretical part deals with the term of giftedness, characteristics of gifted individuals, their identification and education and it also deals with the topic of self-concept. The empirical part presents the results of mixed research, which was carried out since november to december 2020. The data were collected using czech version of SPAS (Students' Perception of Ability Scale) and semi-structured interviews. The research sample consisted of pupils attending 3rd to 5th grade, the quantitative part of the research included responses of 36 respondents, the qualitative part of the research analysed interviews with 10 informants. The main aim of the research was to compare academic self-concept of gifted children educated in classes established specially for them with academic self-concept of gifted children integrated in regular classes. The results of the quantitative part of the research did not show any significant differences in academic self-concept between these two groups. The qualitative part of the research, however, pointed out a few differences between gifted children in special and regular classes, these differences pertained social relationships in school context.
Future time perspective of gifted children

This bachelor thesis focuses on the future time perspective of gifted children. The goal of this thesis is to explain the way gifted children think about their time perspective and what their motivation connected to this phenomenon is. The children taking part in this research were children who attended the summer science camp Běstvinka. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of talent, time perspective, and motivation. The second part deals with the research, including a description of the objectives, research questions, and the methodology used. The first goal of the research concerns the time perspective, where research questions were used to find out what type of time perspective prevails in children, how far in the future these children think, and which contents their future perspective has. Another goal was to describe the motivation of gifted children, which is why the research questions focused on the type of motivation most represented at school and the motivation to participate in the summer science camp Běstvinka. Learning English: Exceptional Ways and Needs of Exceptional Children

This diploma thesis has outlined the issues of gifted education and the problems which this whole area of education faces. It introduced the basic topics related to the gifted population such as the gift itself, its division etc. In addition, it described the basic forms of work with gifted students, with emphasis on the importance of teacher training and introduced (using interviews) the personal characteristics of teachers which are considered by the gifted students important. Furthermore it presented specific training needs of gifted students and showed the possibilities in helping the gifted. In its second part, this diploma thesis also presented some of the unusual methods which can be used in the process of teaching and which are usually highly effective when presented to gifted students. Individual methods were analysed and possible applications of each of those were described. For a better understanding, each of the methods was accompanied by an example. During the research I realized even more that the issue of gifted children and gifted individuals in general in the Czech Republic is not sorted out adequately. Options of Selection and Development of Gifted Children at Primary School

The diploma thesis Options of Selection and Development of Gifted Children at Primary School is devided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains processed information about giftedness based on professional literature. I paid attention to introduction of definitions of giftedness according to various authors, but I preferred those definitions that giftedness are understood as a reason for special eduction. It also includes chapters on the basic types of giftedness, possibly specific manifestations of gifted children and options of developing gifted children at primary school. The practical part of the diploma thesis consists of empirical materiál that at first describes the options of education and development of gifted children at Primar school V Rybníčkách. Subsequently I devoted myself to the analysis of the acquired empirical materiál that i get for my praxtical pedagogical work at the primary school. In the practical part of the thesis I also included a chapter where I presented tips for activities that provede to by suiteble in practice for the development of the potential of gifted children during classes and in leisure time activities. At the end of the diploma thesis I see our activities as stiulating but not entirely ideal.
Individualization in education as a means of education of gifted children in elementary school

Thesis topic is individualization in education as a means to educate gifted students at the elementary school. The aim is to find out how teachers educate gifted students at the elementary school and what types of individualization techniques applied in everyday teaching. Teacher's attitude to education of gifted students, issues orientation and differentiation of educational offerings. The focus of the theoretical part is description of the specific characteristics and the problems of gifted children, which affects educational process and the relationships with the teacher and classmates. Options education of gifted pupils, modification methods, forms of teaching and learning environment. The multiple practical part includes the study of three elementary schools, which includes observation of teaching involved interviews with teachers. The research described disunited approach teachers for gifted children with their education. Comparisons between schools showed large differences in the education of gifted children in the primary school. Each school uses a different system of education of gifted students, has other goals in the education of gifted students and each school has different approach to the problem of gifted children. The Communication of Mensa ČR Organization

Bachelor thesis entitled The Communication of Mensa ČR organization deals with the presentation and communication activities of non-profit organization Mensa Czech Republic, which brings together exceptionally intelligent individuals. The aim of the thesis is to introduce the organization Mensa ČR, it's mission and activities in the context of the issue of gifted children in the Czech Republic, and to describe and evaluate how effective is the application of communication strategies used by the organization. In the first part, the author provides background information about the issue of gifted children, deals with the definition of gifted children, the legislation of their education, the social problems associated with gifted individuals, and lists important organization for gifted children in the Czech Republic. The author then presents the Mensa ČR organization and its activities in detail, and determines its target groups. The second part is devoted to the analysis and evaluation of all relevant means of communication used by organizations to communicate to internal and external public. Gifted student at contemporary school

This work deals with the gifted children and their education possibilities in Czech schools. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part we first look in what talent is, we will explain different terms which are similar in meaning to the word talent and how to differentiate between them, we will introduce models of talent by various authors and also the basic types of talent. Further I mention the characteristics of the gifted children and how to use these characteristics to identify them. Subsequently, we divide the gifted children into different categories depending on the manifestations of their talents. Significant part of this work is the education of the gifted children, which I split into education at school and out of school. I describe concrete forms of education and possibilities of work with the gifted children and I evaluate their pros and cons. By out of school activities I mean family environment and organizations and institutions focused on education of the gifted children. The rest of the theoretical part I provide summary of this of this topic in the Czech Republic and also what is the situation with education of the pedagogues of the gifted children.
